Brief introduction

The mineral insulated cable consists of the basic structures of the high-conductivity copper conductor, mineral (magnesium oxide)insulation, and the seamless copper tube sheath. When the cable is used in the occasions where there can be corrosion to copper, a layer of plastic coat can be added on the outermost layer (optional).The continuous working temperature of the bare cable can reach 2500°C, and it can supply electricity for 3 successive hours at 950°C~1000°C.In a short time or during the usual time, the cable can work at the temperature of 1083C, which is close to copper' s melting point (the melting point of magnesium oxide is 2800°C).


Characteristics

1.Fire resistance

The cable can not burn itself and will by no means cause fire disasters.Even if the cable is on fire,it can still work normally.Besides,as long as the flame temperature is lower than the melting point of copper,the cable can still be used after the fire is eliminated without needing to be replaced.The fire resistance will be better if the sheath and core line material are replaced,thus the cable can be used in the environment of oil gas.

2. Strong overload protection ability

When the transmission line is overloaded,the plastic cable will generate heating,aging or broken down of insulation because of the overcurrent or over-voltage:while for the mineral insulated cable,as long as the heating temperature is lower than the melting point of copper,the cable won't be damaged.Even if the cable is broken down at the moment,the magnesium oxide at the point of breakdown is still magnesium oxide.After the overload is eliminated,the cable's property won't be changed and can still be used normally.

3.Large current-carrying capacity

Because of the particularities of the texture and structure of insulation,the mineral insulated cable has relatively larger current-carrying capacity,When transferring the same magnitude of current,if choosing the mineral insulated cable,the 1,2 or more sectional area grades can be reduced compared to the plastic cable.

4.High working temperature

Because  the  temperature of the  melting point of magnesium oxide in the insulation layer is much higher than  that  of copper,  the  highest normal working temperature of the bare cable can reach 250°C. The cable can continue to work at the temperatures close to 1083°C for a short time, which is the temperature of copper' smelting point.

5.Waterproof,anti-corrosion,and explosion-proof

Because the seamless copper pipe is adopted as the sheath of the cable,the conductor,insulation and sheath are the densely pressed entity.Therefore the cable is not only resistant to the damage from water,moisture,oil and some chemicals,but also able to stop the extension of the combustible oil vapor,gas and flames.

6. Excellent screening property

The copper sheath of cable is the best screening protection layer,which can not only prevent the interference of the cable itself to other lines but also stop the interference to itself from the outside electromagnetic field.

7. Strong anti-radiation ability

Because the constituent materials of the cable are all inorganic,the electrical and mechanical performances of the cable won't be changed a little through nuclear radiation.

8.Long service life

Because the cable consists of inorganic materials,it won' t age,and its service life can be at least several hundred years.

9. Small outer diameter and light weight

Comparing to the plastic cable with the current-carrying capacity,the outer diameter and weight of the mineral insulated cable are much less,which can not only reduce the space it occupies but also make it easy to install the cable.

10. Environmental-friendly and safe

The constituent materials of the cable are all inorganic without any organic matters.Therefore even if the cable is heated at the temperature of 1000'C,not any smoke, halogen or toxic gas will be generated.The cable is a safe product that can truly realize green environmental protection without the"secondary damage".


11.High mechanical strength

The cable has dense and solid structure which is sturdy and durable.It can bear the extrusion,impact,bending,squashing and so on from the outer forces.When the cable is squashed to 1/3~2/3 of its original outer diameter,it can still be used normally and safely.

12. Bending performance

After the complete annealing,the cable has the bending performance that the common plastic cable can never compare. The minimum bending radius is only 2~6 times of the outer diameter of the cable,if repeated bending is needed,it is necessary to heat the bending part with the blowtorch to prevent the breaking of the cable.

13. Good ground connection

For the mineral insulated cable,the independent earthing conductor wire is not needed,because the copper sheath of the cable already plays the role of earthing conductor,and provides excellent low earthing resistance.Compared to the organic cable,it can save an earthing line.
